March 28, 2023: Dr Moopen’s family bought four per cent of shares from an un-named private equity investor for INR 4.6 billion, raising their stake in Aster DM Healthcare to about 42%.

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) was established on May 25, 1981, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and it includes Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
Aster DM Healthcare had revenue of INR 102.53 billion in the fiscal year that ended on March 22. The company plans to restructure India and GCC businesses.
In India, Aster is establishing a 350‐bedded Aster Capital Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, a 200-bedded Aster MIMS Hospital in Kasargod in the same state, a 150‐bedded Aster Narayanadri Hospital in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, and a 100‐bedded Aster G Madegowda Hospital in Mandya, Karnataka.
It has 239 Aster pharmacies and 177 Aster Labs, and patient experience centres. With 4,095 beds in 15 hospitals in India and 4,670 in 18 hospitals next financial year, Aster shall connect all the above through the myAster App launched this year to give omnichannel care to our customers, according to a BSE filing.
The opening of a 181-bed Aster Royal Hospital in Oman, 101-bed Aster Hospital in Sharjah and the acquisition of a 126-bedded hospital in Al Qusais which will be operational soon, will make Aster one of the largest healthcare providers in GCC with 15 hospitals, 113 clinics and 257 pharmacies.
The company plans to roll out 250 new Aster Pharmacies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Aster DM Healthcare has a presence in seven countries and 828 establishments. It employs 29,108 people and serves over 18 million patients a year.
