Spanish Beauty Brand Acquires Majority Stake in Kama Ayurveda

Puig ups stake to 89% in Kama Ayurveda

Sept 16,2022: Spanish perfumer Puig and owner of brands such as Paco Rabanne, Nina Ricci, Carolina Herrera, has upped its stake in the Indian herbal beauty brand Kama Ayurveda Pvt. Ltd, to 85 percent. Puig increased its stake in Kama by 36 percent from the earlier 49 percent. With this acquisition, Puig has reaffirmed its belief in the vast growth potential in the beauty and wellness market.

Kama Ayurveda was founded in 2002 by Vivek Sahni, Dave Chang, Rajshree Pathy and Vikram Goyal. The company has based its offerings in the ancient Indian medical science of Ayurveda, and all its products foster holistic wellbeing.

Kama Ayurveda currently operates 54 stand-alone stores in India, with plans to operate more than 60 by the end of 2022. It has a strong online presence too, and Puig’s strong global presence will support the further expansion of Kama Ayurveda into global markets

The partnership created today will leverage Puig’s strong global presence to support further expansion of Kama Ayurveda into global markets. The company plans to take Kama to the UK next year itself.

Puig says that it will continue to support Kama’s expansion in the domestic market with its expertise in brand building, technology skincare, and perfumery.

Puig owns beauty brands Carolina Herrera, Paco Rabanne, Jean Paul Gaultier, Dries Van Noten, Nina Ricci, Byredo, Penhaligon’s, L’Artisan Parfumeur, Kama Ayurveda and Loto del Sur; the licenses of Christian Louboutin and Comme des Garçons Parfums and Lifestyle fragrances, among them Antonio Banderas, Adolfo Dominguez, and Benetton. It also has The Charlotte Tilbury division. In 2021 Puig recorded sales of €2,585 million. Puig sells its products in more than 150 countries and has offices in 29 of them.
